  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook the ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion until browned (about 10 minutes). Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Stir in chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, and cayenne pepper; mix well.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add rinsed pinto beans and salt; stir together and cook for an additional 15 minutes before serving.
